Building Strong Girls

 

Our chapter, and Gamma Phi Beta as a whole is passionate about our philanthropic focus because we know today's girls face more challenges than ever, making the need for a safe place with supportive mentors even greater. Girls need women in their lives who can help them develop the skills to succeed in life. Gamma Phi Betas are those women. 

Gamma Phi Beta is the proud exclusive National Panhellenic Conference National Partner of Girls on the Run International, a nonprofit organization that allows our membership to actively live our philanthropic focus of Building Strong Girls through hands-on service and charitable giving.

 

Community Service

Girls on the Run is a youth development program for elementary school girls aged 7 - 10 that integrates lessons about empowerment, optimism, gratitude and more through interactive running activities. This 10 week program ends with a community wide 5k run with other Girls on the Run teams! Members of our chapter volunteer for Girls on the Run events throughout the year. Sisters take on various roles, including:

-Becoming a volunteer coach and assist other volunteers to inspire a group of local elementary school girls through their easy-to-follow curriculum over the course of 10-12 weeks. Ready, set, coach!

-Lacing up your sneakers and become a running buddy. Members have the opportunity to pair up with an elementary school girl completing her Girls on the Run experience! Run/walk by her side and provide the encouragement and friendship she needs to cross the finish line.

-Volunteering as a 5k race crew member. You will provide support on and off the starting line, allowing these girls and their supporters to finish the end of season race! We help with events before and after the 5k, such as holding signs and cheering on girls, helping at hydration stations, decorating costumes, and much more!
